Ed Leedskalnin's Coral Pit

This is the last remaining quarry that Ed Leedskalnin used in order to excavate the blocks that he used for the wall that encloses the Coral Castle.

There were two other quarries that were filled in purportedly as a safety issue when they initially opened the park to the public.

One has to wonder how Ed was able to lift these enormous blocks into place out of the pit after cutting them out with simple hand tools.

Although it is rumored that he used enormous tripods made from telephone poles to maneuver the blocks, one has to wonder if the tripods were only a prop to distract people from the real reason he was able to move these enormous stones.

The last thing to consider is if he really did use a simple pulley system which had to do with these tripods, how in the world did a man that weighed less than 100 pounds have the strength to lift telephone poles together in order to move his blocks?

Would he not have needed some kind of pulley system to maneuver the massive weight of the telephone polls into a tripod configuration so that he could begin his work to begin with?

More pics to come.

Stay Tuned...
